FAQ, aka short and sweet rundown of how things work.

1. What role do journals play in XMI? The Institute has an intraweb system setup and maintained on the island. Each journal is the personal journal of the character and can be used to post about their day. These can be locked by using tags like [Locked to Character] or [Locked to Legacy Members] or [Private] Players can read them, but the characters it is locked from cannot. Strikeouts should be 'invisible' unless the player states otherwise in the entry.

2. Threading? Threads should be posted to the community. These can be posted as finished scenes completed in AIM or gdocs, or they can be threaded through the journal. The following should be at the top of every thread completed or not.

Who Who is doing the scene
Where Where the scene is taking place
When When the scene is taking place
What What's going on
Warnings Anything above a pg-13 should be warned about. Overt sex scenes, extreme violence and other mature themes should additionally be friends locked. The mods reserve the right to add to this list of do not post as needed.

3. How many characters can I have? A total of 5, with no more than 3 canons. One may petition for more if one is particularly active and has shown a great deal of time and character development with the first five.

4. Do I need to give a writing sample for every character? Yes, the mods feel that this helps you get into the character's head before they are added. It also helps the mods understand your take on any given character.

5. Can I be rejected? Yes, but we'd prefer not to have to reject anyone. You may be asked to revise your character to better fit with the theme, setting or nature of the game.

6. Are all powers allowed? To some extent, yes. Please bear in mind that a game breaking power - such as Magma's ability going so far as to even be able to disrupt tectonic plates - will need to be toned down a bit. Telepaths will also be held to a stricter standard. No one likes to be accused of metagaming or godmoding, and telepaths in RP tend to be accused of this justly or not.
